Since I got an iPhone and later an iPad, my world view seemed to be getter narrower instead of wider.
I used to care more about what is happening in the world before internet. I cared about the Chernobyl disaster, the collapse of the Berlin Wall, the Gulf War in the 90s. The internet made it easier to follow the collapse of the world trade centres, the Katrina disasters, the tsunami in 2004 and the Japan earthquakes.
But in the last two years, I was really numbed about world or local news. I did not know what is happening in the world, neither did I care. I didn’t know the extent of my numbness until I come across pictures of riots in Ukraine and I vaguely knew that something happened in Venezuela. I
felt guilty but also helpless.
