Looking forward to

First Ex Raid for Deoxy in the coming week,

Game of Thrones coming back in April;

Safari Zone in Sentosa in April;

Vacation in Australia in May; and

Financial freedom in three years time.

Can’t sleep. Feeling disturbed that people I knew who openly and vocally discriminate and criminalise against homosexuality. And they call themselves the silent majority when they are so loud.

It is usually the religious folk who preached about loving everyone, not casting stone. The more you talk about how great your creator is, the more despicable you are when you violently ostracise a group of people because of their sexuality.

Can’t vent this above in real life, so have to blog about it.

Random thoughts

Twitter gave us 280 characters and famous writers such as JK Rowling & Stephen King do not like it. The irony that they wrote thick books with much more than  280 characters. I rather people wrote all their message in 1 tweet rather than scrolling through part 1, 2 & 3 on the same matter. I would have an easier time tweeting during those time that I tweet a lot.

MRT train delayed 3 time out of 5 weekdays. They are in operation for 30 years & all their parts are not being maintained well. Really disgusted with the management which pushed all the blame to the staff.

My legs are just like the old & beaten MRT. Painful. Missed those days that I can walk, run & climb.

Getting tired very easily. No energy to stay back to complete my work. The thought of work gives me anxiety.

Niantic, the Pokemon Go’s developer is coming up with Harry Potter’s augmented reality game. Not sure how to feel about it. One year ago, I will be elated. Now, knowing that Niantic treats Asia sans Japan as second class, we will be getting inferior game than USA/Europe.  Also, I can’t walk as much as I want. On the other hand, interested to know how they are going to implement marauder map into the game.

Speaking of Pokemon Go, I am still not getting the Ex Raid pass for Mewtwo. Sort of losing interest in the game.  The gym system sucks.

Watched Stranger Things 2. Love the nostalgia.  Really wishing Eleven would interact with the 4 boys more. Will is such an unlucky child.

Finally watched 新扎師兄,which was a 1984 show. While Stranger things is a current show with its background set 30 years ago, 新扎師兄 was filmed more than 30 years ago. Hence the nostalgia is even stronger ~ there was a time that people has to use pager or wait for phone calls at home.

Not a good year for my family’s health & work. Getting old sucks.

In the end

There were so many issued that I want to rage on my blog – Oxley Road house, minister’s comments on MRT breakdowns, deadlines and more deadlines, people piling more and more work at me …..

But when I signed on WordPress, I felt so numb and don’t really have anything to write. My mind is full of deadlines over the most boring, unimportant mundane stuff that I can no longer occupy my brain with useful knowledge.

Corporate world wanting me to be their version of me whilst I want to be my version of myself.

My parents worked so high and suffered so much throughout their lives.  By the time when they can retire without financial liability, they are hit by chronic illness.

I fear that by the time that I can slam the door and leave corporate world behind, I will repeat their same fate. Or worst, corporate world is Hotel California that I can’t leave.

In the end, it doesn’t matter. No matter how hard I try.

Rest in peace, Chester Bennington.  I do not know your name before your death. I only knew your sorrowful voice through Linkin Park. There was a phase in my life that I listen to In The End, Numb etc repeatedly every morning before I face this real world.

Just read an article of a book titled Crazy Rich Asian, written by Kevin Kwan, a descendant of  an OCBC banker.  Background of the story is set in Singapore, about very rich people. The book is a bestseller and is going to be made into a movie. I might borrow the book from the library. Not incline to buy book at the moment, mainly no space.  Besides, I have reservation contributing money if the book portrays a negative image of Singapore. The Singapore I grew up in is a country where most people work for a honest and humble living.  I might be wrong and ended up loving the book.

 I first heard about Crazy Rich Asian from Ryan Higa’s Twitter asking Asian to audition for roles.  I didn’t pay much attention to it then because I have very little interest in the life of Asian American, filthy rich or dirt poor. In fact, I am put off that people from various ethnic group and various culture of the Asia continent is pigeonholed into a group called Asian in USA. Chinese, Japanese, Korean are different. Philipinos, Indonesian are different. Indian, Sri Lankan, Pakistani are different.

Anyway, hope that the book is good and the movie is successful. For a start, I respect that the movie make a stand by not whitewashing the roles.

I want to start jogging again.

141 caught

Finally caught and evolved all the Pokemon that can be caught in SG.

My feet are painful from all the walking and chasing. I have been to most of the places that I caught the rare Pokemon, but there is a difference between casual jog /walk  to the places and sprinting to the spot beating against time. I love the joy of catching a new Pokemon. Even though the feet are painful, it is still a great distraction from mundane and grinding working life. I love anything that is a portal that help me escape from the real world, whether it is books, movies, augmented reality game.

I finally find the time to blog after I sort of catch them all (excluding the regionals, legendary etc). Have not read a book, watch a TV show series etc. I finally cleared my bills today and have a good nap.

I have not watch  a single episode Pokemon cartoon when it debuted in the 90s. I was still in the early part of my working life then and cartoons have no place in my heart. I was resistant to Japan culture then.  I have overcome my dislike of Japan in recent years and come to appreciate the beauty of Japan and its pop culture. Finally, started following Ash in his Pokemon training. The internet is a tardis that allow me to go back to an old timeline to enjoy something that I have missed out in the past. Perhaps, because I have caught the Pokemon, I really enjoy the show.

Whilst playing the game, I have heard a lot of judgemental comments from strangers and coworkers. Why feel more superior that you are jogging while I share the same place with you  as I catch the Pokemon ? Public place is for everyone.  Also, if you don’t get it, you don’t get it. So, please stop asking why  am I playing/still playing the game. Every adult is a child once.

I read my last blog which mentioned about the mass shootings and terrorist attack. After I completed my augmented reality game, I realised that reality still sucks with the explosion in Manhattan.
